Joseph David of Willow Oaks Drive, Ozark went to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 27, 2009. He was 90.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 31, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the mausoleum chapel at Woodlawn Memory Gardens with full military honors, entombment to follow with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1-1:45 p.m. at the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home.
Mr. David was born on February 12, 1919 to Frank and Mary David of Marion, Indiana. He graduated from high school and joined the U.S. Army. He served in WW II and the Korean War. Joe was a POW for 2 1/2 years and was the recipient of numerous medals.
Joe and his wife of many years, Flossie, made Columbus, Georgia their home. They were members of Pinehurst Baptist Church where they faithfully served the Lord, and then they moved to Ozark to be closer to their children. In Ozark they joined Ridgecrest Baptist Church where they made many friends. He loved his church family very much.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Frank, and mother, Mary David; a brother, Julius; and his beloved sister, Margarite.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of many years, Flossie; two sons, Joseph L. David, Dothan, and Roland Wilson (Mary), Columbia, S.C.; two daughters, Emily Thompson (Don), Pansey and Faye Brock (Benny), Ozark; five grandchildren, Rolanda “Miss Ro” Goree (Ron), Ozark, Barbara Corneluis (Michael), Lincoln, Neb., Kelly Wilson-South (James), Milwaukee, Wiscpmsom, Robin Wilson-Webb (Mark), Columbia, S.C., Kenny Thompson (Tiffney), Prattville; four great-grandchildren, Emily Goree, Dothan, Brock Goree, Ozark, Madison Thompson, Prattville, Mason Thompson, Prattville; and special friend, Mr. Ernie Prelize, thank you for all the kindness you showed to our father.
