Leon Ray Mims

NEWVILLE - Leon Ray Mims, a resident of County Road 89, Newville, died Sunday night, December 13, 2009, in a Dothan hospital. He was 85.
Funeral services were held at
2 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2009, in the Old Center United Methodist Church with the Reverend Terriel Andrews and the Reverend Michael Goodwin officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Mims was born and reared in the Echo community of
Dale County and formerly lived in Columbus, Georgia before moving to the Old Center community where he was a member of the Old Center United Methodist Church. Mr. Mims was retired as the manager of Harris Amoco Service Station in Columbus, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his father, James W. Mims, his mother, Lillie Dale Evans Faust and his wife, Gladys Hart Mims.
Mr. Mims was survived by several cousins including, Willodean Swensen and husband, Edward Swensen, Newville.
Serving as active pallbearers were Gus Swensen, Joe Brown, John Justice, Louis Thorpe, Sherrill Singleton and Kada Newman.
