Reverend Lloyd S. Dillard
Rev. Lloyd S. Dillard retired from the United States Army on April 30, 1997 at Fort Rucker , Alabama . During a career that spanned 38 years, he served tours in South Carolina; New Jersey; Germany, Alabama, Taiwan, Wisconsin, and Indiana as a Chaplain's Assistant and enlisted Human Resources Manager before he was appointed a Personnel Warrant Officer on September 7, 1970. His assignments in Warrant Officer status were in Vietnam; XVIII Airborne Corps Artillery and 1 st Corps Support Command, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; United States Support Activity, Iran; United States Army Readiness Group, Huntsville, Alabama; Office of Chief, Army Reserve, Pentagon, Washington, DC; Headquarters, Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Virginia, and Fort Rucker, Alabama.
Rev Dillard was the first Black Master Warrant Officer appointed in the United States Army, was on the first list of Warrant Officers selected for promotion when the new rank of Chief Warrant Officer Five was approved. He was co-developer of the first Master Warrant Officer Course, which subsequently became the Chief Warrant Officer Five Course.
Rev. Dillard and the former Barbara Ann Pegues, a Miles College Graduate from Griffin , Georgia have been married since August 15, 1962 . They are the parents of a daughter, Leslie, a Computer Analyst and Army Major in the Chemical Corps on active duty with Headquarters, Forces Command, Atlanta , Georgia , and a son, Chief Warrant Officer Three Lloyd II, a Blackhawk Maintenance Test Pilot currently serving in Iraq . They also have two granddaughters and one grandson.
Rev. Dillard spent the last three years of his military career as Assistant Commandant of the Warrant Office Career Center , Fort Rucker , Alabama . During that same period he was initially an Associate Minister and later the Assistant Pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church , Ozark , Alabama , under the leadership of Dr. S. C. Jackson. Since transitioning to civilian life, he has been employed by the Dothan Housing Authority and as Pastor of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Dothan , Alabama .
Rev. Dillard's academic credentials include Valedictorian of his graduating class at Booker T. Washington High School, Reidsville, N.C., a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, North Carolina; a Master's Degree in Personnel Administration from Alabama A&M University, Huntsville, Alabama; and a Master of Divinity Degree from the School of Theology, Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA, all with honors.
Rev. Dillard is a member of a number of civic and professional organizations such as the ADC, NAACP, Multi-Racial Committee, Booker T. Washington Museum Board, Association of the United States Army, etc. He is committed to serving God and humankind.
